Newfield Visits Local Courthouse

A Middle Country Central School District’s Newfield High School college-level accounting class recently took an educational field trip to the United States District Courthouse in Central Islip. The class spent the day learning about legal-based careers, discussing not only occupations such as lawyers and judges, but other positions that help a courthouse operate on a daily basis.

The high school students were treated to a wide-ranging tour of the courthouse, allowing them visit an active arraignment courtroom and an on-site jail cell. Throughout the tour, students had the opportunity to speak with court officers, court clerks and judges regarding their day-to-day responsibilities and the steps they’ve taken to reach success in their careers. The Middle Country Central School District continues to offer students opportunities to explore possible career paths as they look ahead toward their future.
