Dawnwood Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students recently demonstrated their commitment to service by hosting a pet supply drive at Petco. The event brought together students, staff, and community members to support local animal rescue organizations, Save-A-Pet and Last Chance Animal Rescue.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, the drive collected a range of critical supplies, including food, toys, and essential care items for animals awaiting their forever homes. The event not only provided critical resources but also raised awareness of the importance of animal welfare and rescue efforts.
Adding to the day’s excitement was a special guest, Dave, a lovable rescue dog from Last Chance Animal Rescue. At the time of the event, Dave was still awaiting adoption, but he has since found a permanent home. Dave quickly became the star of the day, bringing smiles to everyone he met and reminding attendees of the joy and companionship that rescue animals can offer.
The NJHS students worked hard to organize and promote the drive, showcasing their leadership and dedication to making a positive impact. Special thanks go to NJHS adviser Mrs. Israel for her guidance and support, and to the entire Dawnwood community for coming together to help animals in need.
This meaningful initiative reflects the core values of the National Junior Honor Society—service, leadership, compassion, and highlights the powerful difference students can make when they work together for a good cause.
