Newfield High School recently announced that senior Thomas Lasher has earned the esteemed Long Island Arts Alliance Scholar Artist in Music award. Thomas is one of only four students across Long Island, and one of only two from Suffolk County, to receive this prestigious music accolade.
Thomas’s exceptional musical talents and dedication have earned him this significant recognition, reflecting his commitment to his craft and his role as a standout artist within the Long Island community. As part of an award celebration, Thomas participated in a Newsday photo shoot and his biography and accomplishments will be featured in an upcoming September issue of the newspaper.
In addition to the feature in Newsday, Thomas will be honored at a special ceremony hosted by the Long Island Arts Alliance in April at the Tilles Center. At this event, he will receive a $250 scholarship in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the arts.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Thomas’s remarkable achievement,” said Principal Scott Graviano of Newfield High School. “His dedication and passion for music are truly inspiring, and this award is a testament to his hard work and talent.”
The recognition also highlights the support and guidance provided by Thomas’s band teacher, Dr. Harold Goldstein. Dr. Goldstein’s mentorship has played a crucial role in Thomas’s success, and this accolade reflects the exceptional quality of music education at Newfield High School. Congratulations to Thomas Lasher and Dr. Goldstein on this well-deserved honor. The Newfield High School community is incredibly proud of Thomas’s accomplishments and looks forward to celebrating his continued success in the arts.
